Stage 3 Adaptations
As you get older your medical and mobility needs change. Your home can often be adapted or have specialist equipment fitted to help you manage daily activities more easily. Adaptations are matched specifically to your needs and are carried out in your home to increase your independence.
Costs
There is no charge to tenants. The Scottish Government allocates money each year for adaptations to be carried out. Social Work departments will often supply extras such as shower seats.
What can be done?
Many works qualify for funding. Here are some examples:
- Level access showers to replace baths
- Automatic Door entry systems
- Handrails, grab rails and balustrading
- Stairlifts
- Non slip flooring in bathrooms
- Entry systems to increase security
- Widening doors to ease wheelchair access
How to apply for a Stage 3 adaptation
You should let your Scheme Manager or Housing Officer know if you have any ideas about things that would help you. You may need to wait for the Occupational Therapy Services to assess your needs. They will tell us how urgently you need the adaptation, which will determine where you are placed on the waiting list.
