volunteers
Bield Housing Association aims to provide a broad range of community services, and volunteers play an important part in achieving this. You may be looking to gain work experience, returning to work after a break or wanting to give something back to your community.
If you enjoy working with older people, have a couple of hours spare each week and are 16 or over, then you could help in the following ways:
Social Activities
Help organise and run social activities within our housing schemes:
- lunch clubs
- games & craft sessions
- teas & coffees
- group outings
- reminiscence groups
Befriending
Visit a tenant on a regular basis who may be isolated or needs some extra support. Befrienders can carry out a range of tasks and activities:
- Provide companionship
- Share mutual hobbies and interests
- Escort for outings or appointments
Will I be able to choose what I do?
We will do our best to match your interests and skills to our activities in your local area.
Will I get any support?
We aim to offer you the support you need to carry out the tasks you undertake, including the individual support of a member of staff as well as any necessary training.
Will I be able to give enough time?
We usually ask for a commitment of a couple of hours a week. However, we will try to tailor your commitment to suit the time you have available.
I can't afford to be out of pocket...
Although you won't be paid, we aim to meet all reasonable expenses to make sure you are not out of pocket.
To find out more about getting involved, have a look at the volunteer opportunities currently available or contact.
