Feeling lonely? You’re not alone

Let’s talk loneliness – it is something that can affect any individual at any period of their life regardless of their age or background.

Loneliness has been something many of us have experienced in some form over the last year, and it is important to reach out to someone or seek help to overcome this feeling should it continue to affect your wellbeing. Ignoring loneliness can start to have an impact on both your physical and mental health.

Building awareness and acceptance of loneliness can help everyone manage and combat that feeling better.

A few ways we suggest overcoming loneliness include:

  • Sharing your feelings with others close to you
  • Volunteering and giving back to the local community
  • Using social media to find likeminded people in a similar situation
  • Join a befriending service
  • Join in social activities to meet new people
  • Pursuing hobbies and interests that you enjoy

If you have been feeling lonely for a long period of time, it might be worth getting some professional help – it is important to not suffer in silence and feel you are alone in this situation.
