Five ways to kick-start 2022

1.Make a New Year’s resolution list

There is no better time to start working on your goals than at the start of a new year. Whether it’s learning a new recipe, finding new ways to save up or looking to book your dream holiday, it is always nice to have a bucket list full of activities to try out.

At the end of the year, look back at your list and see how many you managed to tick off.

2.Learn something new

While we are still on the topic of trying things out, one of the best ways to break out of your daily routine is by taking time to learn something new and acquire new experiences.

From drawing and meditation to gaining new digital skills, make sure to do some research and explore your options - there is always something to try out.

3.Take up an activity

It is no secret that being physically active has an abundance of mental, physical and social benefits benefits such as improving motor skills, helping blood circulation and generally strengthening the body.

Plan exercising into your routine no matter how big or small it may be. Whether it’s a walk to the local park, doing yoga at home or taking up exercise classes with a group – everything adds up.

4.Communicate and connect

Restrictions are a reminder of how important it is to stay connected and communicate. Staying in touch regularly with your family, friends and community build a big foundation for positive mental and social health.

Other alternatives for staying connected can be finding a pen pal, check on your neighbours or even volunteering at your local community centre.

5.Prioritise health

A great way to stay on top of your mental and physical health is to prepare a health plan. Speak to your GP to find what would be the best way for you to improve your daily habits in order to stay healthy.

Small alterations such as staying hydrated, improving your diet and practising mindfulness can go a long way when done on a regular basis.
