Message to Staff - 23 March 2020

Dear Staff Member -

The next few weeks and months will be challenging for us all, as we come to terms with a new way of life, working in new ways to safeguard our customers, ourselves and our families. Some of you will also be working remotely using technology new to you to minimise the spread of the virus and ensure that as many of our staff can continue to contribute safely to our work. We, the full Board of Management of Bield wanted to contact you all individually to express our support and thanks for all that you are doing to ensure that we remain true to our core values of high-quality service and care.

At last week’s Board meeting, we were updated on the significant planning arrangements and service changes that are being led by the senior team and in which we all have a role to play. We can assure you that we are completely confident that the approach Bield is taking to minimise the impact of this unkind virus and protect our customers and workforce is impressive and exactly the right one. Bield is fortunate to have appointed a Chief Executive Officer, Dr Lynne Douglas who has significant experience in planning for such situations as we find ourselves currently in and we have the upmost faith in the leadership she and the senior team are providing.

It's essential that we motivate and support each other as we strive to maintain our services so that we can all positively contribute to Scotland’s response to COVID-19.

Actively practising social distancing wherever possible, avoiding direct hand contact with your eyes, nose and mouth and maintaining good hand hygiene are just some of the actions we all need to adopt and use all of the time.

Thank you once again for all your commitment and efforts which we know will be needed in the weeks to come, they really are appreciated.

Our thoughts and support will be with you throughout this time.

Stay safe and well and we look forward to meeting many of you in the near future.

Dr Lesley Holdsworth (chair), on behalf of us all:
