A word from our longest serving staff member

All of our staff show tremendous dedication every day to make sure every cog in the Bield machine runs as smoothly and functionally as possible.

However, one member of our team has been maintaining our high standard of housing longer than any other.

Caroline Simpson has worked at Bield for 36 years, joining the family in 1985 as a cleaner at the then brand new Castlebank Gardens development in Glasgow.

After four years of keeping the development in pristine condition, and doing occasional relief cover in the complex, Caroline accepted a position at the brand new BR24 team, providing around the clock call centre support for Bield’s customers as a call advisor.

Caroline said: “I have spent about 32 years at the BR24 team and loved every moment of it.

“I feel extremely fortunate to be in a position to help so many people with their housing and personal problems, I have dealt with so many different characters along the way and worked with a host of fantastic colleagues.”

The 61-year-old has seen a vast amount of changes during her three and a half decades with the company.

Caroline added: “There has been a huge amount of changes since I started with Bield. For one the call system has become a lot easier as technology has developed.

“Once we had to learn how to operate four different sets of equipment for the various developments when processing enquiries. Now everything goes through the one system – it was a real head spinner.

“It is just one of the many things that has changed for the better throughout my time with Bield, and no doubt it will continue to improve over the next 50 years.”
