There are only two exceptions and we have a very limited number of tenants in this position. These tenants represent less than 1% of our total tenant base.
The exceptions are:
- Where we provide care to a tenant and they have oxygen in their flat.
- Where we provide care to a tenant and with CPAP equipment.
In these circumstances staff should wear, an apron with long sleeves, gloves, mask and either glasses or visor. Please also refer to the section below section; Using PPE best practise on the sequence of use.
Staff should know when to use this additional PPE from a sign which is located directly outside the tenant’s door to identify Oxygen/ CPAP equipment. However, for ease a list of the affected sites in noted below alongside the number of tenants who are affected at the site.

Please note this was a change to the PPE guidance from the Scottish Government on Friday 3 April 2020. We are urgently sourcing this new equipment, which will be available at the affected sites over the course of the next few days. Please note that most of these sites, do not provide care services, and as such a very small amount of PPE will provided to non-care sites but will be available if required.
If you have less than five-days’ supply available for this or any other type of PPE equipment, email the dedicated in-box that has been set up to deal exclusively with PPE requests PPESupplies@bield.co.uk
Bield has purchased reusable masks for some care services; these are individual to you. They can look a little scary, but they are high quality and we made the decision to purchase these so that we don’t face a situation that we don’t have the correct PPE when we need it. Your re-usable face mask may look like this
Alternatively, we have purchased these disposable masks. These can be used for a single session or sessional use.
