If your home has storage heaters, your electricity supply may have been controlled by an older Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) meter. The RTS has now been switched off, so some older meters may no longer work as they should. This could affect your storage heating or hot water.
The service has now been switched off because the technology had reached the end of its operational life.
For some homes, this means an older RTS meter may no longer work as it should, which could affect heating or hot water.
What do I need to do?
If your home still has an old RTS meter, you should contact your energy supplier and ask for it to be replaced with a suitable smart meter.
Some homes with RTS meters have two electricity supplies and two MPANs (Meter Point Administration Numbers). If this applies to your home, make sure your energy supplier knows that both MPANs need to be considered when replacing your meters.
Only the energy customer can request a meter replacement. Bield cannot arrange this on your behalf.

Already had your meter replaced?
If you have recently had a smart meter installed and:
- your heating or hot water isn't working properly;
- your energy bills are unusually high; or
- you think there may be a problem with your new meter or its installation,
you should contact your energy supplier and ask them to investigate the issue.
